Default Alpina SR Pro boots

Just recieved a set of Alpina SR Pro ski boots and I am wondering what a few
of the adjustments are. There is a large screw assembly on the back of the
heel (forward lean?) and a slider with a screw on the outboard ankle. I
bought them because they fit great and want to know what the adjustments are
for and how they should be set. Any help would be appreciated. Email at
or post here. Thanks

The one on the back is probably forward lean, although it might be to
adjust the flex. The screw on the side is probably canting. (Google
'ski boot canting' for more info.)

The way to set them is to work with a good boot-fitter. The boot fitter
will have you assume your usual ski stance and evaluate how you line up
over the boots. You can't do this yourself 'cause you need somebody
else to watch while you stand. You could get your
friend/wife/husband/neighbor to do the looking, but it's unlikely they'd
know what to look for. That's why you need a boot-fitter.

Where to find one? The store that sold them might be a good place to
start, although since Alpina is a "discount" brand sold through garden
variety sporting goods stores you might not find anybody who knows
anything there. Better ski boot vendors offer a guaranteed fit and will
work with you to get all the adjustments right.

While these adjustments are critical for top performance, they're not
that crucial for the casual skier. If you're not really serious, just
set 'em in the middle and go skiing.
