Tuesday at Killington
Tuesday, November 2, 2010, Killington
As an opening day, it couldn't have been better. The weather cooperated, The crowd was good and tuned into what the drill was. There wasn't a frown in the place. I didn't hear any raised voices. The new Peak Walkway is a smashing success. Killington couldn't have done anything better to make early season skiing and riding more painless short of restoring the mid-station on the K-chair. If you read this correctly you'll know that that suggestion is impossible and so the walkway is the best that can be. I can only hope that it becomes available again at the end of the season to make the better terrain and snow conditions available when lower mountain skiing becomes a slog. The solutions to trail crossings and other accessibility concerns, like the Cascade Headwall and Catwalk are spot on. The loss of Heavenly Traverse should be of little concern as the need for its existence was eliminated when Canyon Quad was built years ago. |
