Default Birkie Thoughts

Birkie is coming up. Once again a lack of time on skis due to cold weather
(NoDak) and cold/flu bugs, am second guessing which race to do. Classic or
skate? Bumped back to the 5th wave this year. Had a couple of lousy years
and missed last year.
Any comments?

Mike

Conditions aside, it's a matter of comfort and picking one's enjoyment
and poison. Skating calls for more intensity, lots of ups and downs,
while striding allows the skier to better control intensity, while
being a more continual full body effort. My fallback is striding, but
for the next person it might be skating.

how many kms do you think you did on skis this year? A rule of thumb I
stick to is you have to have ~500 km on skis before a serious marathon
like the Birkie.
