Nothing is guaranteed, but with a village height of 2200m it's about the most snow-sure for an early start of anywhere in the Alps. -- Ace (brucedotrogers a.t rochedotcom) Ski Club of Great Britain - http://www.skiclub.co.uk All opinions expressed are personal and in no way represent those of the Ski Club. |

Thanks for the reply, OK, but do you know the snow record for this date? Could I reasonably expect snow. i.e. is it sensible to book a holiday know. -- Michael Chare |

Thanks for the reply, OK, but do you know the snow record for this date? Could I reasonably expect snow. i.e. is it sensible to book a holiday know. Looking at the historical snow reports on the SkiClub site shows an average (going back to 1993) snow depth of 50cm lower and 108cm upper slopes for the third week of December. I've skiied there once from around the 18th, when there was plenty of snow and all lifts were open. So if your time is limited, I'd guess you could be reasonably sure of getting decent skiing from as early as the last week of November, when it would normally expect to open, but you may find that in a bad year not _all_ the lifts are open from that time. Last year, which was a particularly bad start of season everywhere, had 50cm upper and 35cm lower for the same week. -- Ace (brucedotrogers a.t rochedotcom) Ski Club of Great Britain - http://www.skiclub.co.uk All opinions expressed are personal and in no way represent those of the Ski Club. |

I went at the start of December once and there were only a handful of
lifts open. I think mid-December you are fairly safe to have a fair number of runs though maybe not the links to the other areas. It really is a bit of a gamble though with the weather these days, last two times I was in VT, Jan last year and March year before, the snow was slushy and thin. Tom |
