Default binding mounting

I bought new bigger boots (tired of losing toenails), and without changing
the binding mounting the center line of the boots will be a half inch behind
the center line of the skiis.

Does anyone have an opinion as to whether or not this will make any
difference? (Obviously, I'd rather not remount the bindings if I don't have
to.) I noticed at a ski show a new Marker binding that allows a fore and
aft adjustment of about a half inch, indicating a performance difference
with some catch words for each position. No, I am not confusing this with
rental bindings.

Slightly more GSey, less SLey feeling.

Before the advent of ESS bindings (now Atomic) with their fore-aft
movement capabilities, one of the tricks was to deliberately mis-mount
(relative to the ski manufacturer's recommendations) a centimeter or so
ahead or behind to induce a particular desired feel to the ski. It works.

A half inch is a bit more than a centimeter - I'd adjust the binding and
ski them that way; if I didn't like it I'd worry about remounting - if
they skied OK, I just use them.

BTW, a half inch difference in shell size is HUGE - I hope you're not
going to be swimming in those new boots. The preferred way to avoid
losing toenails is to cut them really short. Took me three large toe
nails to figure it out - I'm a slow study - but I mounted those three
ripped off nails to 3x5 cards, added a date, and stuck them on the
office wall. Helped keep the clean-cut normal people from bothering me
in the office.
