decisions decisions....
Tomorrow is six for the price of one day at the Boynes. Should I go and
ski for ten bucks? Or is it going to be a zoo? On the one hand, it's Friday, early season so how bad can it be? On the other, there's only one lift and three runs in the whole place that are worth the saliva to spit on, so if it's crowded I'm stuck elbow-to-elbow with every other cheapskate in the mitten. And on the gripping hand, I can ski on my season pass across the street and be assured of having the joint to myself, but my brother-in-law will be along and he'd be paying full price. What to do.... //Walt |

Arguing with the gripping hand is _always_ a losing proposition. Well, it turns out that the six-for-one deal is only supposed to be good at Boyne Mountain, not at Boyne Highlands which is where we went, and the guy at the ticket window told me as much. When I told him that that's not what the website said, we quickly compromised on a three-for-one deal. Since there was only three of us, that seemed like a pretty good deal. Like I want to waste my time selling extra tickets in the parking lot? Anyway, a cheap ski day (it worked out to about $15 per ticket), the place to ourselves for the first two hours, and Boyne's usual mediocre snow quality. As for Boyne Mountain, DO NOT GO THERE on six-for-one day. It's as if every snowboard kid in the state of Michigan skipped school and showed up with 5 of their friends. I know this since Boyne tickets are interchangable and there was a steady stream of folks who bought their ticket at Boyne Mountain and then made the additional 50 mile drive to the Highlands. By all reports it was a complete utter zoo. //Walt |
