Val d'Isere opening a week today!?

Interesting to see that the Val d'Isere web site is still stating an
opening date of 25 November, a week today, despite the fact there
doesn't seem to be any snow at all !

They delayed opening a week last year and I wouldn't be surprised if a
2 or even 3 week delay happens this season. But then I guess we'll also
be skiing into May...

Yeah - not looking good is it :-( I'm not convinced it's really been
cold enough to do any serious snow making either, although Orange/OK
seem to be coming along nicely for the Premier Neige comps.

Skiing into May? The snow might be good, but if it's like last year,
when the French say something's going to *close* on time, it's really
going to close on time! They had the first bits of the old Palafour
lift on the ground by 9am of the day after..!

Didn't part of Val extend by a week last season?

Don't think so - closed on the 1st May, as planned, from what I
remember. Tignes closed 8th May, as planned, for sure.

I also recall something about Val D'Isere also being open for an extra week
due to the "excellent snow"....I think that this was just at Le Fornet.

Anyway some snow seems to have fallen last night....still not enough to
ski on but it all looks much more cheerful on the webcams!

Well, there is now! Tignes is open and Val d'Isere opens on 25th Nov.
I'll be there in Jan - several times!
