Check it out in Beowulf & Grendel, this movie came out way before the
newer version of Beowulf.

There's only two things your need to know about Beowulf:

1) There's no actual wolf in the story. Make sure you don't allude to a
wolf, 'cause then everybody will know you haven't actually read it.

2) All the translations are awful and don't do justice to the story.

The fairly recent Seamus Heaney translation is pretty dam good. Try it
out if you don't read old english/norse.

Stating 2) usually will end the conversation right there, but if the
person you're talking to persists,

I'm persisting. The Heaney is really good.

your own and ask if they would they like to know the details. That
should encourage them to change the subject and move on to something
more interesting.

Like [ob]snow, or beer, or cheese.

Ok. It's time for plan B (which I've never had to resort to before)

Have you heard the good news about Amway?

Did you notice that Beowulf is a lot like me? He's tall, and blond,
and good-looking. He's a leader of great warriors. He's also a man
of the sea, just like me.

My T-shirt says, "This shirt is the

They're revamping their sales reps, Hooters-style?
