Default XC-ski racing in 1969 in Alaska

I was searching for something completely different and found this.

This article is mostly about a "lost" trail near Anchorage,
Alaska. But there are some old photos of races from 1969. Included
are photos of a very young Shirley Firth, one of the famous
Firth twins from NWT who dominated the Canadian women's
racing scene in the 1970s.

Which photo are you referring to?

The owner of Lapland Lake in NY, Olavi Hirvonen, was a ski trainer for
the US Army in Alaska sometime after WWII.

The photos are scanned from magazines and newspapers so
aren't of very high quality. The photo I was refering to was the second one
titled :

Shirley Firth and Fred Kelly after winning 1st places in individual
competition at the U.S. Junior National Cross Country Skiing
Championships in Girdwood, AK.
