Default One more Montreal XC query

When I recently asked about XC options in the N. Vermont to Montreal area I
got some good suggestions for Vermont (thanks Lew). But can anyone suggest
a place to do a little XC in the Montreal area? I'd prefer untracked trails
and something a little more challenging than a golf course if possible. I'd
be staying in Kanawake just across the river from the city proper.
TIA,
a

With the little snow we have right now, your choices will be very limited.
Most if not all trails on Montreal Island are closed or so icy they can't be
groomed... The only place close to Kahnawake that I can think of is Mont
St-Bruno provincial park (www.sepaq.com), with some groomed - tracked trails
opened...

Scary to think of Montreal with no snow in Feb...
I won't be up there till later in March and I'm just doing the research in
the chance that we might all get a 'late' winter.
thx for links...

If your willing to travel about 30-60 minutes north of Montreal, you should have some fine spring skiing at the end of March at the Petit Train du Nord (old railroad converted to a ski trail), Morin Heights ski center, or http:\\www.parcdescampeurs.com in Ste-Agathe-des-Monts. Ungroomed backwoods, hmm ... anywhere off the side of the Laurentian autoroute would do.
Good luck, S.
