Courchevel Lift Operators on strike today!
My son has just texted me this news so checked it out - apparently
they are and due to poor working conditions - poor sods!!! Meribel is open but I should imagine the bus and lift queues are horrendous. Just got back from the 3V yesterday and I feel sorry for all those people who had just arrived with big smiles on their faces. The week was great in terms of sunshine but there is definitely more snow needed. It was also so warm that in the afternoon we were skiing in SLUSH! Saturday I wore just a fleece and many others had the same idea - some even wearing t-shirts and shorts!! PSC |

My, they can fairly bounce on skis. |

Never mind the lifties, I want to know why God's gone on strike. I'm really holding out for one of the storms that closes the road between here and Bourg. I actually considered cutting the lawn outside my apartment this morning. If it wasn't for all that snow in Novemeber and December I'd hate to think where we'd be right now. Matt |

We arrived on Sunday (24th Feb) and it was all very confused, no one seemed to know whether it would happen or not. However, when we took the free bus up to 1850 just about every lift operator in the valley was outside the Crosette (sp?) protesting. No one seemed to know whether they would work on the Tuesday but in the end they did. We got 63 Euros back on a 6 day family pass (Which cost 570) so GOK what formula they were applying. Fortunately (!) for us we were skiing with 2 children that had never skied before so its unlikely that we would have used Monday in any case. Rob |

Rob Very interesting, we were there 23rd onwards and part of a big group the head rep, allegedly married to an ESF instructor..... A, knew nothing about the 'strike' until the day it occured, (we saw the signs the day before), and B, thought we were joking when we asked for a refund on our 3 Valleys pass, which is the most expensive I ever payed for in twenty six years, ahem, BTW! I will forward this to others in my group. Cheers. David |

We even had people with 3V passes that had used them (taken a Bus to Meribel) and still got a refund. They just wrote on the passes with an indelible pen, looked up a figure of a sheet, and paid out - In cash. Rob |
