Where to ski in Italy in April
I will be visiting Venice in either the second or third week of April
on business and would like to combine my trip with a few days skiing. Are any of the resorts within easy driving distance likely to still be open, and worth visiting late in the season. Any suggestions etc would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Any suggestions etc would be appreciated. Thanks. It will depend on several circumstances. I happened to ski in traditional ski resorts late in April, but those were the years ... Now sometimes, even if we aren't short of snow, the companies running the lifts have very strict agreements with the energy providers, so the ski seasons are often off by April. The best and world known resort near Venice is undoubtly Cortina d'Ampezzo, a really short trip from Venice. I doubt whether there'll be either open lifts or enough snow. I would suggest you decide your final destination once you are in Venice or two days before you get there, following snow bulletins and browsing the net to keep yourself informed. Directing yourself toward a glacier or better nearby would be a good idea to secure your ski-fun. Think about the Marmolada and Val Senales glaciers, too. I wish I could help more. Have fun. Cervinia, Val d'Aosta...
I know this is not very close. But it wortha and there is an easy access via motorway from Venice... (you said you would going there for a few days) TA I don't think this is a good advice. The resort is a good one, and certainly full of snow at any time, but would you get there by Venice (he will need more time for the trip than he has got for getting from hom to Venice) when you may find where to ski much closer ? Would you ? Enotrio |

From home? Besides there is 6 hours driving from Venice to Cervinia... when you may find where to ski much closer ? Would you ? The only ski place (in April) which seems to be closer is Marmolada. Val Senales or Presena (Passo Tonale) too but I wouldn't consider them... Regards TA |
