dumb question re viewing messages

I've subscribed to this group for years. Suddenly, I can only view posts
dating back to 1/17/06 (recently installed PDA software, but doubt that's
the prob). Even if I do a search and specify that I want messages prior to
1/17, nothing comes up. Any thoughts? I was hoping to see if there are any
posts on the Malolo and a few Nitro boards.

If you haven't changed your OE settings then maybe your news provider has
started holding messages for shorter lengths.
If so try www.dejanews.com

That sounds short even if your news provider changed settings....
however..my back up ISP (for work stuff!) did put this message
up recently:

Our Usenet news vendor has upgraded their servers, to provide a
larger number of groups and a longer retention time.

However, this will also require all Usenet users to reload their
group lists and read article counts. (Usenet software maintains a
list of article numbers that have already been read. The numbers
start over at 1 on the new server, so if you do not reset these
counts, you will not see new articles posted.)
