Default Touring skis need different camber, shape...

I tried doing the touring style of skiing for a bit tonight. It was
fun. It was neat seeing the scenery and the terrain.

But I noticed that this more upright kind of skiing put my weight WAY
back on the ski compared to sport-skiing technique.

Hence, I think that a ski designed for a tour or upright style of
skiing---or should I say ski-walking---should be shaped differently in
every way than a sport ski. Kinda like the diff b/w a Dutch city bike
and a race bike.

I'd suggest a longer tail. When skiing upright one's weight is on the
tails. The tip is out front only doing guiding and floating work. No
weight is on it.

I suggest putting the apex of the camber about 12" rearward from usual.
Also, the camber would be gentle---one is not doing any trouncing when
ski-touring. One may not always do 100% weight transfers.

I mean, I was using what are called touring skis to do this but I don't
think their design reflected the touring style AT ALL.

Also, why not make the ski wider at the rear. A touring/upright style
requires max stability. One is not staring downward as much. One is
looking at scenery, ignoring skis as much as possible.

So I'm thinking a ski with a long, wide tail and a gentle camber way
toward the rear.

This would make a very tail-heavy ski. Very bad? Tour-style skiing
would still seem to prefer a tip-heavy ski. I haven't tried any other
kind, tho.

Just some thoughts.
