Default Northug - Di Centa shoving match.

Watch the todays 2nd mens semifinal and see "Dennis the Menace" Peter
Northug cut off Di Centa during a left turn. He and Di Centa get into this
big shouting and shoving match at the finish line. Hetland has to come over
and drag Northug away. They won't going out tonite for a couple of beers..ha
ha.

So it was a sprint. You need to fight for your line - or you lose. It happens in
most of the WC sprints, particularly in those town centre criteriums with their
tight corners.
Di Centa was lower than expected in the overall tour points list and perhaps he had desire
to succeed on home ground in front of his own people. It was the Italian temperament
that caused him to remonstrate in public in the finish enclosure. As Mike Dixon said
anger is a good emotion when racing if its properly controlled and I feel his lack of
control is what caused him to fade in the next race.

When you guys are visiting the Aftenposten (english) article, please
check out this one as well:

Longyearbyen on Svalbard (Spitzbergen), at 78 degree north, was the
warmest place in Norway yesterday!

Global warming? Yes indeed. :-(

Not sure how you can tell what happened based on the commonly available
feed. It's a fine line that almost invariably falls on the side of
competition, and without a protest the jury wasn't going to do
anything. Nottrug does skate pole with very wide hands. No love lost
between Norwegian and Italian teams.
