Tragedy at Snowbird, Today, 02-20-04
Well, sort off.
Looks like a complete loss...irreparable. Other than breaking a few pairs of skis, this is about the worst damage I have ever done to a ski base/edge. Volkl Vertigo G-3 (191cm) with about 20 days on them. This is a 6" (approx) core shot, via the ski edge. Damage occurred on the Cirque Traverse (rock city) at Snowbird. WARNING, referenced photos are very nasty, graphic, etc., etc., etc. http://www.xmission.com/~hound/astro...damage_001.htm http://www.xmission.com/~hound/astro...damage_002.htm -Astro P.S., FOR SALE: 1 pair of Volkl Vertigo G-3's, cheap. |

If you'll pay for shipping, I'll take 'em off your hands. I'll use 'em
to make a fire sacrifice to the snow gods. JS AstroPax wrote: Well, sort off. Looks like a complete loss...irreparable. I think some people saw the repair during the Oooootah invasion. I think I still have the ski. It was a worse shot than that one. It did get fixed. I can show it to you if I can find it. They just have to do it in layers and let them cure in between. Strangely enough I did it at snowturd too. Somewhere skiers right of Gad II after that first pitch in the liftline. Looks like a good week coming up. Maybe we should have an Alta Java one morning. pigo |

I took it to a ski shop on 7200 S. Way east. In a shopping center. Seems like it was about a mile or so west of Wasatch Blvd. on the South side. It was similar to that one in the pic only deeper and longer. I was pretty resigned to needing new skis when it happened, but the repair worked. |
