Yep, you've probably never heard of it but due to the high temperatures
and thin snow cover Alpe di Mera in Valsesia, Piedmont, in the
northwest of Italy has closed its lifts until further notice.

A shame as it is my home hill this season. Conditions in Alagna - 20
minutes up the road - are surprisingly good...

Unlucky.

Do you know anything about Courmayeur? We're heading there this week.

It doesn't look like much snow is likely anywhere in western europe in the
next week or so. And although the temperatures are due to drop, it seems
most ensembles agree this will be a short lull in the relentless balmy
weather.
How many more are going to fall victim? The gondola back down to La Tania
is, I fear, a looming possibility next week for me :-(
