I have the option to go there for a weekend in a months time. I may well
hire a car at the airport rather than get a coach because the price is
similar (for two of us) and it will give me the freedom to go to Kaprun
as well if necessary for snow.

My question: Will I need snow chains (at a cost of about 40 euros)?
If your trip would be today, you would need snow chains, to get from the
airports parking lot to the freeway access (Munich is realy flat, but
there are cars with snowchains today).
Even if the road from Salzburg to Zell would be nearly flat, your hotel
will be 120m above the valley ground and it will be a cool fun for you
to carry all the luggage by hand from the central road to the hotel,
because the car does not make the 120 m up. (It will be fun too to undig
the car the next morning, after the snowplough has buried it under 2 m
of snow, because it is parked half illegal aside the road...)


Hey guys, I don't understand those always returning questions. It is
winter and you are planning a trip in the Alps - you have to have
snowchains with you.
