Mini T.R. Wolf Creek 11-19
Drove way too long today, but got some good early season skiing at Wolf
Creek Pass. As near as I could tell you could ski most of the area, but since the Alberta Lift might not have been running (sorta hard to pin anyone down on that) I didn't take a chance on having to walk out of that part of the mountain. Snow cover was great for November, all soft with some packed and some cut up powder. The cut up snow was skiable but had some strange ruts, maybe caused by melting and freezing cycles. It was Locals Appreciation Day with special low cost lift rates so lots of people were in attendance. Still no lift lines or crowded slopes. The area has many intersecting trails near the bottom that look sketchy. Didn't see any collisions though. Highway construction on the east side of the pass below the area can really slow your drive. Sign reads;" Expect up to 30 minute delays." |
