Best Before Date?
A silly and largely academic(1) point of contention, but:
Does a (race-quality) wax job have a "Best before" date? For example: if a week or two later, the conditions are just right for the (unused) waxed pair, would they still work 100% - or would the wax job have deteriorated during the time in storage? (Someone I know vehemently argues this would be the case, as there would be "oxidization and drying". Although I quite regularly ski on week-old wax jobs and find them more than adequate, I have no idea how they´d compare to fresh ones.) (1) The unchosen race pair usually gets cleaned up (or used in training and cleaned up), and the probability of just the right conditions turning up in the next race are pretty low. Anders (whose head is getting a bit feverish...) |
