Really Cheap Ski Jacket
If anyone is looking for a cheap ski jacket - ie. firt time ski trip then
look here.... http://www.tchibo.co.uk/is-bin/INTER.../-/GBP/TdUkDis playProductInformation-Start;sid=jvxaQAzcq_NaQU0OEqtQJA9IX3JdCDrOfEE=?Pro duc tSKU=M7398 For the bargain prce of £30 I don't think you can go too wrong, I myself use gore-tex gear and will sing its praises all day but it comes at a cost and not all can afford it. I had a friend who bought a suit very similar to this last year and I was quite impressed with it for what it cost, I would think this jacket is very similar. When he used it it was warm enough and even held out quite well in some early jan rain, he said is was leaking only a slight ammount and he had some very small damp patches in a couple of places but even I had a small leak around one of my zips. I think it would be more than ok in moderate conditions, but would maybe suffer in the extremes expecially on a beginner in slushy wet conditions for instance. Paul |

Bought myself the snowboard version (looked nicer) together with a pair of pants. See, even though I'm happy to fork out on a helicopter transfer doesn't mean I don't know a good bargain when I see one too. I'm not sure about that. Cheap does not mean bargain. I hope you get on OK with the jacket (they *look* OK) but I've seen some of the stuff from Tchibo and it just confirms the adage "you get what you pay for". But then I would say that, I bought an Arctryx jacket last year, which is the helicopter transfer of clothing brands. |

No matter how much the remaining 90% is. Yep, and "90% fat free" must be healthy... Because it's only 10% pure fat!? (in the case of crisps I've found at least one normal brand had less fat than most "low fat" brands). Digressing a bit here... Getting back to the original topic perhaps I was a little harsh, I wear my jacket for 40 days a year if I'm lucky, and I'm quite happy to go out in the worst conditions . Plus, it's not just for skiing but also climbing, hiking etc. So, I think it's worth paying more for a good jacket. If you only plan on using a jacket for 6 days then taking a chance on a Tchibo product is probably sensible, and if it didn't work too well you could always wash it with a re-proofing product to get a bit more life out of it. |
