Default Anyone in Eugene, OR area?

Heya, all. I just discovered this group (spending too much time on life,
rec.outdoors.fishing.fly, and this cute little redhead ng..... naw, that's
tmi...)

Anyone lurking here from Oregon? I moved to Eugene a year or so ago from
Portland (Calif. before that) and am always looking for friends (and beta)
on skiing the Central Oregon Cascades bc from the Valley side...

Look forward to chatting with you all!

Do we? Do tell...

I'm thinking about skinning up to some of the larger Cascade lakes (where
fish can overwinter) at first thaw, and beat everyone to the first midge
hatches. Most fishermen lack the gear/skillset to access that resource that
early. Has anyone tried it?

I spent a summer working in Umqua Nat. forest working for a forestry
contractor base in Eugene. I spent the weekends there. You might want to
check out the Willamette Backcountry Ski Patrol http://www.wpsp.org.
They're based in Eugene. For the moment, I'm doing my thing in NJ. Maybe
someday I'll get back for a visit.
