Well, when you think as little as I do of Bush, it's not hard to
imagine that he's not good at taking live instruction. Search the net.
There are countless examples of his seemingly answering questions no

A leader wouldn't give a flying **** about his place in history but would try
to fix the stuff that needs fixing. You look at politicians as positive

I HOPE to find politicians that can serve as positive examples.
Unfortunately, the only ones of recent time that jump out at me are
Harry Truman and Gerald Ford. Note this has little to do with their
Presidential records but the people as a whole.

I seem to remember that his security people decided that it might be a good
thing for him to hang around out in the sticks for a while, but I could be
wrong.

See above. Sadly it's been quite a while. I have hope that McCain fits
the bill but only time will tell. The guy seems to **** off everyone
which pretty much makes me think better of him. grin

How about the look of somebody trying to remember if anybody he knew
personally was in the tower? Probably looks about the same.

He may or may not be a jerk, but taking a single pre-staged performance as
indicative of deep character flaws is finding exactly what you were looking
for.

Not a single one. MANY of them. I was on the debate team in school.
It's a much different thing to debate in front of your own team and
supporters than it is to actually debate in front of a group
representing all sides including many who don't agree with you. He's
been doing the pre-staged bit since day one.

When I first worked there, in 2000, it struck me smack in the face that risk
ID/Contingency planning is not a big thing in America. At all. In business,
in life, for disasters, for anything.

I'm shocked and upset to see Americans floating, dead, in an American city,
but the cause of it is still there, and while people want to blame Bush, or
Nagin, it won't go away. It's systemic and it's not going away unless
something changes.

I believe the proper term is "freedom cards". You are making all your

Ah, Bev. The difficulty with your explanation was that he sat there
AFTER being told of the second plane. He started the session after the
"accidental first plane." Remember when his aid wispered in his ear
that the second plane had struck? That was when he went into his "I'm
dumber than Dumb" routine for 7+ minutes ON CAMERA!

ObSki: You don't need smarts to ski; so why don't we teach George the
Doofus to ski, turn him into an enthusiast, and take turns keeping him
on the slopes and away from any decisions? We'd all be allot safer.

A fate worse than death for those who become his keepers.
However, if he becomes an "enthusiast", you won't need
keepers. Just an occasional companion to say "wow" and
things like that.

I watched part of that worthless chunk of screed, which was entirely
sufficient. Moore has neither shame nor credibility and no matter what he has

Understand, I wasn't exactly a big Gore fan either. It's just that
when I watched Bush speak, he spoke like a man who had no clue. Gore
seemed to speak more fluently on what Bush's agenda was than Bush
could. From that moment forward I started watching the guy. Was he
really a man of the people (and thus someone I could be interested in)
or just a guy making it up as he went along? I came to feel it was
that latter with every step he took. Then 9/11 happened and it became
more clear that the guy was a puppet who was simply the front man and
not a good one. It's been going downhill ever since.

They've now had to resort to putting him out mainly in staged events
with participants who would never think of seeing him in bad light.
That's some feat! grin

It's to our eternal shame that we can't field better candidates for high
office. Or even low office.
