Wanted: Info on construction of 2003-2004 K2 World Piste telemark skis
[cross posted to r.s.n]
My ski shop mounted some BD O3 bindings on a pair of brand new last year's World Piste skis (the last year before the skis came with prethreaded binding inserts for certain brands of bindings). The base of the ski underneath one of the heel blocks has a bulge: they overdrove a screw during mounting. They claim that there is a metal sheet (now dented) between the screw and the base. Is this true? The 2004/2005 World Piste added "another sheet of titanal" to make two. That means my skis have one. Isn't it on the top of the ski, rather than next to the base? Thanks! |

I talk to them in person tomorrow. I will make it clear about the construction of the 2003-2004 model. mount your own skis than deal with a lousy shop, i trust you won't be back to this place.... and did they offer to fix the bulge or not? They seem to be taking it very seriously, and spoke of, along with fixing the screw, compensation of "more than the value of a stone grind", though they would likely recommend waiting a year to use it for a stone grind. either they should do it by hand, or they should give you all your $$ What does do it by hand mean? back- don't let them stone grind your skis to fix it-besides the skis being new, would you trust this shop with a grinder now? Why does the bulge (it's little!) matter? It it going to affect the longevity of the skis? I'm not racing on them... Thanks! |

OK, i prolly went off the deep end, because this has happened to me before with a shop, though in my case they drilled right through the base. if it's really small, then no, it's really no big thing, and you can file it down, and you'll probably never notice the difference. if the odds were really against you, a core shot in that spot would probably exascerbate the problem. sounds like they're trying to work things out, which is a super first step- and as long as you can't feel the difference, and you feel they addressed the problem adequately, and they comped you for pain and suffering, i think you'll have peace of mind good luck, sounds like you've got it well in hand..... |
