Mammoth is my home mountain. It's a great place to ride! If you are
into freestyle, the parks at Mammoth are awesome! Many members of the
US Snowboard Team train at Mammoth (i.e. Danny Kass, Tommy Czeschin,
Tara Dakides), so they keep the parks top notch shape. You may also
want to drive 20 miles north to June Mountain. June also has an awesome
park and has become a freestyler's favorite (June is owned by Mammoth).

If you're into freeriding, there is a lot of sick terrain around
Mammoth. If you want to get into the trees, try chair 9. Steeps, try
chair 23 or the gondola. There are also some nice runs off of chair 22,
chair 3 and chair 14.

Mammoth currently has a 12-14 foot base, so coverage is excellent. The
weather is typically sunny, but when the wind blows, it blows hard! It
can get up to 40-60 MPH on top.

BTW, Mammoth is about a 6 hour drive from LA (300 miles).

Mammoth and nightlife should never be found in the same sentence! if
anyone recommends the micro-brewery ignore them unless you like drinking
slops.

I agree totally, boading-wise it is absolutely tremendous, I have never been
anywhere better!

But..................the nightlife is virtually non existant, a couple of ok
boozers for a few beers and drunken nights but no mad party places
unfortunately.

However the boarding is just so good this would not put me off in the
slightest.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Scotland
