versatile.

Hi all

I am going to be buying some Rossi Bandi B2's (Ski only) this year and
have
been shopping around and searching for the best price. The cheapest

price
I
found was £195 but that was last year and the shop ran out of stock or
went
out of business because I cannot find any nearly as cheap.

OK, so two things, Does anyone know a good shop either online or....
offline! that have a really good price for ski only? or should I wait
till I
get out skiing in jan and risk trying to get a better deal in resort?

or,
any other good suggestions welcome.

Also if anybody is out and about in a resort at the moment and happens

to
have passed a ski shop, how much were they going for?

Have you skied on them before? No? How do you know you'll like them?

You don't have to worry too much as they're a really good ski and very
easy to use... I've got a pair myself so I know. However, they may not
necessarily be the ski for you so...

My advice would be to do what I did... get a demo pair from a ski shop

in
the resort you'll be skiing in and find out if you like them. If you do,
buy them. This way, you'll know whether or not they suit you or whether
you should try something else.

As for my pair, I got them for £420 including Rossi Power 120S T-plate
bindings from a ski shop in Val Cenis last january. Saved me £60 odd

quid
on UK prices. France is usually cheaper than the UK (except in some of

the
more pricey resorts) I don't know how other countries compare though.

Good luck with it, though and let us know what you get and what you

think
of them.

A mate who is also a far better skier than me doesn't like them. He
reckons they're too good and are making him forget things a lesser ski
forces him to learn!!! How's that for a backhanded compliment???

I can appreciate that. I have some rossi viper 's' at the moment and have
always had traditional straight and long skiis in the past. I learned how to
carve a turn properly many years before 'carving' or the new style skiis
were made. But this ski is just nice because it can be a really easy ski
when you want to sit back and relax but really push it and it becomes a
totally different ski.

From my experience as someone who is average on piste and crap off it,
these skis have allowed me to go down slopes I would have been petrified
to contemplate before now. One slope I've done on the B2's I'd also done
the year before on my previous skis, Head Cyber X40's. The Head's made
me vow I wouldn't try that slope again... the B2's had me back on the
lift to race someone down it!! LOL!!

I am really worried about this..... I am a no fear skiier on my old skiis,
when I tried them last year I could feel myself going faster down the bumps
after only 1/2 day on them, I just can't imagine what im going to be like
after a week on them?

Superb ski... and to think I was originally after the Salomon X-Scream
Series at £150 more!! LOL

Heard some really good comments about the X-Screams, couple of my friend
have them, tried them for a morning and they are great but the rossi's are
better for what I need them for.

But before buying, I still spent a couple of days on a demo pair to make
sure I liked them

Tried em and im sure I like them already!!!!

Agreed - I tried the B2s when I couldn't get X-Scream Pilot 10s for hire

and
skied like I was on a pair of bananas for about two minutes, after which I
adjusted and absolutely fell in love with 'em.

I struggled with the width of them for the first 1/2 hour, having skiied on
matchsticks for the past 20 years this was not suprising. Anyhow, adjusted
really well in no time at all.

Used Bandits and Bandit XXs for years, but the B2s are even better,
requiring less effort, while remaining secure in a straight line, even on
slight ruts. A neat trick - what more could you ask?

Yes, have some Viper 's' and find exactly the same except in straight line
speed they a very slightly less stable (as you would expect) but is not a
problem, just introduce a really wide arc into it instead of straight
lining.... or hold tight and let em go and hope for the best!!!!

Okay, affordability (please). But you get what you're paying for...

I spoke to some guys on a ski lift who had the B3's on, they were there for
the season and had them for powder days only.... they both agreed that
getting a B3 as an all around ski would probably be a bad idea. They rated
them quite well and said of all the off piste/powder skiis they tried that
the B3's were the best for the job

My only complaint with the B2's was the weight. Especially when you're
carrying them home after missing the last bus!

a friend hired some this time last year when we were in Val for opening
day. we were on 1080s and he was on the B2, he later switched to the 1080
which he felt were a better ski (we were mostly off piste).

He thought the B2 would have been better on the last day when the piste was
firm/icy.

greg

The 1080 is supposed to be a far better ski off piste, it has more flex and
is slightly wider.
The fact is that I want a good all around ski and the B2 does everything
that I need it to.

I skied on the B2 for most of an off-piste week last year and was
quite happy with it. However, unlike it's earlier relative, the Bandit
XX, it wasn't in any way inspiring - it just got on with the job in
hand, no worries.

I ended up buying some Pocket Rockets in the end, having tried them
for the last two days and feeling that they gave me a lot more 'go'
even though the conditions were far from powdery. Later in the year
when we _did_ get some decent powder I was vcery pleased with my
decision :-)

As for the comparison with 1080s, my wife skis on them and demoed the
B2 last weekend in Kirkwood (Tahoe), with which she was singularly
unimpressed, to the extent of taking them back in after only a morning
on them.

But each to his own, like.
