Unfortunately, All I've got is snow-free ski talk. Looks like we're
getting skunked for Thanksgiving weekend again. Nubs says that they
*might* be able to make it for Saturday. Everybody else has already
given up on this weekend.

Counter-rotation, anyone?

Me, I'm holding out for New Year's at Baheemya. I swore a mighty oath
that I would not get sucked in to skiing 18" on top of rocks in
December and then find myself out of travel time while the dumps of
April are landing out west. We'll see if this pays off or not....

At the moment you could venture this way and experience the "dumps of Nov."

The local hills here are open, Schwietzer, Silver Mountain, and even
Lookout pass (opened two weeks ago). Earliest opening in five years.
They hav actually got a base and the snow, which is great, keeps on
coming.

Thank God the snow dance has *finally* paid off, I was getting tired.

If you're worried about early season thin cover and rocks, then why are
you going to a place that a) has no snowmaking and b) has more rocky
terrain than anything else around? Other than the bocdacious nightlife
at Lac LaBelle, that is. (c:

Because I have a touching, childlike faith in the lake effect.

Alos because this trip will probably involve a fairly large group,
including some folk who don't ski (alpine), so it makes much more
sense to keep it within driving range, but still go somewhere that
offers x-c, snowshoeing, sled rentals and motor touring. And because
we're our own nightlife (or more to the point, we get more nightlife
than we can handle at home, so it's just not on our radar when we go
skiing).

Well, OK. Then instead, how about 30" on top of rocks, in November?

Wolf Creek is almost always a sure thing for good early season turns.

I'm sorry, please allow me to re-phrase...that was 30" of new on top
of 31" rocks...for a total of 61".
