Default What are these equipment for?

I got for Xmas:

Atomic TM:X skis

Atomic TM:22 skis

Dynafit TLT Comfort bindings (2 pairs)

Garmont Mega Ride boots

Are all these equipment compatible?

Exactly what kind of skiing are they suitable for?

What is a good place to use this equipment? I'm in Texas.

What kind of poles do I need?

This is not a joke. I'm an experienced cross-country skier and an OK alpine
skier as well. This stuff seems like a cross between the two. Right?

Thanks for enlightening me!

PS. No, I cannot return or sell them but I can exchange or supplement the
equipment. Please don't ask why... :-)

Peter,

If you can't use 'em, I'm happy to take them off your hands -- I'm sure
I can find a use for them. I'll even send you a pair of perfect
condition Fischer Skate-Cuts in exchange.
Mark (who'll even spring for the shipping)

Based on the picture of the boots on the Garmont website, it looks to me
like the Mega Ride boots are compatible with the Dynafit TLT Comfort
bindings.

Going to places with a whole different set of physical dangers than most
alpine skiers have dealt with. Skiing in places that would permanently
damage your mental balance and wreck your career, like

Be grateful that someone like XCtruckee Mark is offering you an opportunity
for safe disposal of this dangerous equipment. Actually I think you should
send him a pair of Fischer Skate-Cuts in gratitude for his help :-)

Awesome, that's what it's all about! Great photos, and it looks like, a
great day.

Thanks -- yes it really was a great day.
One nice thing about cross-country skiing is that you can havedo it safely
on non-great weather days -- so you can get some joyful exercise while
_waiting_ for that day when avalanche conditions and weather are just right
to ski into one of those great high-mountain places.

I'm finding that lots of my experienced partners for days in the wild snow
of the mountains like that are also getting into skating on well-groomed XC
ski trails. XC skating seems to use some different muscles than for the
climbing parts of those high-mountain tours, so it's easy for me use one as
a "recovery day" from the other.

The earliest pioneer I know (so far) for seriously taking up XC skating
after lots of high-mountain ski touring is Dave Hanscom -- who literally
"wrote the book" on one of the great mountain skiing regions in the world.
The original edition was my bible for several weeks of each winter during
grad school. I met him in his office once briefly the time I came out to
give a talk at the CS dept. Then I couldn't believe it when some backcountry
partner told he'd gotten into this tame stuff like:
http://cs.utah.edu/~hanscom/CrossCountrySkiRacing.html
But now I've discovered the inner wildness of ski-skating myself -- and I'm
still trying to follow his lead to new kinds of skiing places like Daniels
Summit.

That link in the Dave Hanscom story _should_ have been:
