No problem at all - I thought that the group was meant to help everybody and
was not just for the benefit of a clique who obviously know more than I do -
I'll keep out of your way in future.

Oh and we've really missed you, please don't go away again.

As for that @hole Ace, he never helps anyone or makes a joke, you never
see any smileys in his posts or helpful information about where to park.
We wouldn't miss his helpful posts at all !

2561m, I think you'll find ;-)

But if one were driving from Les Carooz it would make more sense to
park at Let Molliets or Vernant, where there are big car parks and
good lifts into the system. From Vernant, less than ten mins from Les
C., just two 6-man chairs are needed to drop one directly into the
Flaine bowl.

If that is how you react to somebody giving useful advice, but with a
throwaway pedantic comment (marked with a smiley) before it, then
frankly, there won't be much point in you staying around.

Yes, but the useful advice, even though marked with a "smiley" (which by the
way I do understand) was meant to infer that my posting was somewhat
inferior and contained inaccurate information. In fact I simply chose to
give an approximate figure not having a piste map available. I don't think
it justified a "put-down" whether marked by a smiley or not.

No, the useful advice was the paragraph that followed.

Nobody is trying to suggest that the line regarding the height was
useful.

that was just a throwaway comment, not intended to be taken seriously.

Usenet is not FOR anything, it's up to every user on each ng what he
takes and gives. As it happens, Ace is unfailingly polite and posts
reams of useful advice. You, OTOH, I don't recall at all doing anything.

was not just for the benefit of a clique who obviously know more than I do -

You've got one thing right there...

I'll keep out of your way in future.

Don't bother, I doubt if we'll be on the same slopes

For your information I used to post a few years ago but had similar
problems back then ie follow-up posts which were effectively "put-downs" of
the information I had posted, no matter how accurate. I was tempted to post
again thinking that a more genial atmosphere existed now. Obviously, as
demonstrated by your postings, I was wrong....

Message to Mike Mather - Sorry your posting got caught up in this - the
bottem line is that you should be able to ski during March at Les Carroz -
hope you have a good holiday.

Time for you to grow up methinks - and to stop top-posting.

See when you're keeping out of the way? Could you do it by bottom
posting too? Thanks cherub.

We were there in a heat wave and it was slushy almost to the very top
of Flaine but the runs back to Carroz still had good cover on them (and
fat skis are SO much fun in slush - I really enjoyed the final run down
to the resort at the end of the day... I had to go back up and do it
again a few times:-). I'm told it got colder after this and they had
powder skiing in April last year.

Slush is the poor man's powder. After several end of season jaunts I now
love it. Took a while to convert me though!
