Default Wengen during Lauberhorn race

I'm planning a week in Wengen the same week that the Lauberhorn race
is scheduled (14-16/1/05). Do the preparations for the race or the
race itself disrupt things too much for the ordinary skiier ? I have
visions of miles of piste cordoned off all week in preparation for the
race. Any experiences welcomed..

We've been there a few years recently in the week running up to the race.
Although we've not been there actually during the race (we leave Saturday
morning) there has never been any real disruption. The World Cup black is
of course closed off, but you can still cross it where it goes alongside
the bumps on the way down to Wengen. And it's quite fun watching the
racers practice.

What it would eb like on the day of the race if you actually wanted to ski
is another matter. If you could get up there, I expect the slopes would
be fine.

Alternatively go up to Muerren. It's not such a large area but I prefer
the skiing up there.
