Default Pre-Booking Rental Skis

Is there a benefit in pre-booking rental skis in Alpine resorts?
I can think of queue avoidance as an advantage if priority really is given
to those with a printed-off web booking, but I would think this is only
likely at peak times.

Websites claim 25-30% saving on 'in-resort' rates but I have not been able
to test this: haggling might produce the same result.
Has anyone found evidence of a real saving or convenience?

10% discount at Intersport in Serfuas. There was nu queue, so it was not
really neccesary.
Won't do it the next time. Then I'll find me the closest to the ski-lift
;-))

Had to hire in Meribel this year after trashing my skis on day one -
Checked a rental website (www.snowrental.net) when I got home and it
looks like I would have been about 20% cheaper renting online in advance.

Thanks Ian, I have used SnowRental once before but didn't manage to find out
if I had really saved anything.
