There's an article in the NY Times about how some Minnesota folks are
handling the "new style" winters.

The funny thing is that the device in the top photo looks like super-sized
Jenex V2 Aero rollerski.

Ken

P.S. Do not look at the 3-month temperature forecast for Wisconsin +
Minnesota.

It's a scooter, of the category "mountain scooter," so the
front tire is steerable like a bike. Apparently some of the
ski resorts rent them during the summer for downhilling, but
because of the brakes and the larger diameter wheels they
adapt well to use with dogs. But like rollerskis, it's
really not as much fun as being on snow.

Ken:

It's a "kick bike". Don't ask me any more about it. I'd love to try one
but haven't seen one anywhere yet.

That one is actually a Diggler mountain scooter. The
difference between kick bikes and mountain scooters, aside
from tire size, is that with mountain scooters there's an
assumption that gravity's going to be doing a lot of the
work for you while kick bikes are propelled more like kick
sleds/sparken.

Don't ask me any more about it. I'd love to try one
but haven't seen one anywhere yet.

You can buy really cheap mountain scooters from places like
Belize Bikes. The Digglers can be rented at a number of
different downhill resorts. http://www.dogscooter.com is a
generally good resource if you're looking for something
along those lines.

If you have good bike paths like we do in Minneapolis you might try a
"Titan Push Scooter" its like a Razor but is sized for an adult.

Longboard skateboard cruising is an even sweeter kick and glide
workout.

C'mon snow already!!!!!!!

Ed,

Have you ever tried double polling on a longboard?
