Lift pass Alpe D'huez
Cna anyone give me this seasons lift pass price in Alpe D'huez. There
is alot of varaitions in the cost in the UK tour brochures. Also what is the difference between a local and area pass. We are intermeadiate skiers but we will probably stay skiing in Alpe D'huez especially as the snow seems to be really good. |

Many ski resorts have more than one centre so you can buy cheaper passes that only include the local lifts. This is fine if you are only in the resort for a day or two. Most people other than slow learning absolute beginners will usually want the full area pass. Actually some people are happy in the restricted areas. When I ski at Val Thorens. I like most brits buy a 3 Valleys pass but many French appear to buy the cheaper Belleville Valley pass and are perfectly happy. The sub areas of Alpe D'huez are not so large so I expect you might be less happy confined say in Oz/Vaujany or Auris or the central Alpe D'Huez area. Although all of them are good enough for a couple of days. Another problem with local passes is that you need to be careful not to take the wrong piste. Some areas are protected because they simply ban you from the exit lifts. Valmorel is interesting. There is only one crosssing point into St Francois Langchamp and they have a fence and lift control gates on top of the connecting hill. But mostly sub area passes depend on you seeing signs or you knowing your limits. Accidently overstepping will make it necessary to buy a day pass to get back. Sometimes it is possible to ski to a place without a lift office. 187 Euro for 6 days Adult http://www.alpedhuez.com/page.php?pa...20060220122532 Interestingly the Vaujany website offers the lift pass cheaper. |

One thing you can do is look at which pass the ski schools require you to have. ESF in Alpe d'Huez require the whole area pass after 3 *** for children and after 1st class for adults. You would normally do the 2nd class in your third year. Stephen |
