For mud or even earth then short wide carvers are definitely more responsive than long traditionally shaped skis. You would think that as soon as you run out of snow at speed you face-plant but skis respond remarkably well under these conditions. Usual rules apply: Hire skis are always the best kind of skis in difficult conditions. |

Skiing on gravel can work quite well too....provided that you stay heading
straight down the fall line. Feels a little bit like a dry-slope session!
