Default Camrose Alberta ski club (FRAM)

That' CAMROSE, not to be confused with Canmore (1988 Olympics)
Lat 53 N Long 113 W, about 80 km SE of Edmonton
I just found this site:

Camrose, Alberta is the most "Nordic" looking town I've seen in Canada.
The word that came to my mind when I first saw the river valley park
was "Lillekollen" ! It looks like a small version of Holmenkollen in Oslo,
complete with ski jump.

The town had many Norwegian and Swedish immigrants in the early 1900's
and the FRAM ski club was one of the first in Canada (1911)

Unfortunately, most times that I have been in central Alberta there
has been very little snow. The only time I actually skied at Camrose (New
Year's Day 1999) there had been about 5-10 cm of snow overnight over a
very slim base. It wasn't groomed yet. However, I wasn't the first to
make tracks that year. The local ski team ( one the most active in
Canada) was already out training early New Year's morning.

Also in the area is Miquelon Provincial Park (about 25 km NW) and
Blackfoot-Cooking Lake Prov Park ( 50 km N, home of Canadian Birkie, Feb
14)

I'm going to central Alberta at Christmas time.
