64 days till marathon
Since ski season is almost over I'm on to my next adventure...
64 days = 9 weeks 1 day.... until the Bayshore Marathon... Anyone out there have any 9 week to go advice? I'll hit 40 miles this week, been steadily increasing. I'll hold here at 40 miles/week for a few, then hit 45 and 50 about 3 weeks before race. I have a tune up 5km (30km bike where my buddy will bike) 5km run planned for 14 days before the race - should be a fast 5km x 2 interval workout/tempo run ! My longest run has only been 11.5 miles so far, but I'll bump up to 16 miles in the next two weeks. At this point last year I had only run a max distance of 7-8 miles so I am well ahead of where I was then.... and I ended up with a 3:21. My goal, right now if all goes well, is sub 3:10, possibly sub 3:00. Bayshore marathon Traverse City, Michigan. Check it out if you don't know about it... along the shores of the 3rd largest great lake and a flat and fast course with great temperatures - last year 55 degrees ! www.bayshoremarathon.org later all ! Jeff K. Off to sunny Orlando, Florida on Sunday which is going to KILL my training but oh well, the 1, 5, and 9 year old are gonna love it. |

64 days till marathon
Ha! That sounds easy - the last two years I've jumped off my skis and
run the Boston Marathon the next weekend (Monday). Ski season training involved a long run on Saturday morning and then a 3.5 hour drive to the snow.....lots of half-hour "days" on snow those years. Gave up on that - it's just no fun running a marathon when you're not in shape. bt |

64 days till marathon
Jeff,
Good luck on your Bayshore Marathon. There will be a couple of runners from the Sault in that race. The Sault Stryders Running Club is putting on a Marathon Training Seminar on April 28. I know it is a little out of your way but if you happen to up here around then, check it out. http://www.saultstryders.com/ I will leave you with 2 pieces of advice. 1. It is not how much training you do but how much training you absorb. Which leads to the second piece of advice. 2. Train using the hard-easy method but keep in mind that most people train too easy on their hard days and too hard on their easy days. Good luck, Mario |
