ironing pine tar
I did a pine tarring demonstration this weekend, and a couple of people
asked me about heating the ski and the applied pine tar with an iron. I told them I thought it was a bad idea, and that you're better off heating everything with a propane torch or a hair drier or paint stripper (in that order...). Has anybody tried ironing in pine tar? Tim |

Has anybody tried ironing in pine tar? I've had the best luck with a torch. A heat gun or hair dryer doesn't seem to get hot enough. I havn't tried the iron. ironing pine tar
I have used an iron when desperate in the past, but it doesn't work as well
as a torch. It makes quite a stink, so only for outside use, I think. I agree that a heat gun is the best way to go since you're not quite so likely to burn your skis. Blake |

ironing pine tar
Last time I ironed on pine tar on my Fischer RCSs, it didn't work too well
