Default Is Start Green and Blue Really a Plastic Wax?

Several years ago the wax guru at Sierra Nordic spoke about Start
waxes being plastic. If this is so, is it a waste of time ironing
these waxes into the base for several minutes, or is it better to
adhere it to the base and than scrape?

I'm not aware of any wax gurus at Sierra Nordic, or any gurus in
