Default recommendations for new all-mountain skis/bindings

Hi all,
I am for new all-mountain skis and bindings.
Requirements for skis:
1) Will use them in around 50/50 off/on-pist (deep powder, ice,
anything, but will avoid bumps)
2) Vibration dumpening
3) KNEE friendly

Requirements for bindings:
KNEE-friendly (I busted ACL/MCL a few years ago). Have heard good
things about Marker

Please, any recommendations and thoughts!

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Here's my thoughts. Skiing hurts knees. Bindings offer no help,
regardless of brand / model.

All bindings are basically the same - innovation disappeared decades ago,
so now it's all personal pref. Pick em because a buddy likes a brand,
because you like the color, because you've got a still good pair already -
won't make any difference.

For your knees study the Vermont Safety info.

That's an interesting pamphlet, although it focuses on the ACL, and the OP
has an MCL problem as well. I tore my MCL in a freak low-speed incident
years ago. Oddly enough, I had Marker bindings at the time, although I
didn't blame them for the injury. Coincidentally, I have never used Markers
again, except on those rare occasions I am forced to rent. I concluded at
the time that this was one of those times that I just wasn't going fast
enough to generate the force to release, even though my bindings had just
been checked and were set rather conservatively. I would buy Markers again
if the circumstances were right.

I apologize for a skiing-related post. ;-)

Yeah, the idea of bindings releasing is that you don't break bones. The
soft bits of the knee will be gone, if they were going to go, before you
release.

That said, I like to be able to twist my foot out of my binding when
standing still. it's fun to do, too.

Rephrase this. Bindings offer no help, unless you fall.

LoL...point taken. I think you get what I was trying to say (rather
clumsily), though.
