Well, when you think as little as I do of Bush, it's not hard to imagine that he's not good at taking live instruction. Search the net. There are countless examples of his seemingly answering questions no one asked, talking to people not in the room and acting VERY strangely UNLESS he's listening to someone else wirelessly. A leader wouldn't give a flying **** about his place in history but would try to fix the stuff that needs fixing. You look at politicians as positive examples? Ouch. I HOPE to find politicians that can serve as positive examples. Unfortunately, the only ones of recent time that jump out at me are Harry Truman and Gerald Ford. Note this has little to do with their Presidential records but the people as a whole. I seem to remember that his security people decided that it might be a good thing for him to hang around out in the sticks for a while, but I could be wrong. Nope. He stuck around in the school, with the kids and the principal for 20 minutes. It's what politicians do. Name one that doesn't. See above. Sadly it's been quite a while. I have hope that McCain fits the bill but only time will tell. The guy seems to **** off everyone which pretty much makes me think better of him. grin How about the look of somebody trying to remember if anybody he knew personally was in the tower? Probably looks about the same. I just don't buy that. I don't know. Did that actually happen? Go look it up for yourself. It's readily available. http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/t...estingday.html http://www.patriotsaints.com/News/91...y/Bush/Booker/ http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp...3548-2004Jun18 He may or may not be a jerk, but taking a single pre-staged performance as indicative of deep character flaws is finding exactly what you were looking for. Not a single one. MANY of them. I was on the debate team in school. It's a much different thing to debate in front of your own team and supporters than it is to actually debate in front of a group representing all sides including many who don't agree with you. He's been doing the pre-staged bit since day one. |

"Sven Golly" wrote in message ... Did you hear the latest? Apparently Bush actually called Blanco by phone on Saturday saying, uh, you might want to issue the orders. She didn't do it until Sunday. I hadn't heard that. Do you have a reference? |

Bush was seen saying and doing the "wrong" things, but I think it's a bit unfair to sheet it all home to him. Although it is fun. I'm not blaming Bush for the problems there. Some people are and I can understand their viewpoint. I haven't done enough research to form my own opinion there. What I am blaming him for is his continued lack of leadership. I think he's a brain-dead joke. However, all this "blame Bush" stuff is just head in the sand type avoidance of the real issue, which is failure of System. And you have to ask yourselves, is this confined to Louisiana? Risk/planning is my sphere, and I would humbly suggest this is a big wakeup call for all of the USA. When I first worked there, in 2000, it struck me smack in the face that risk ID/Contingency planning is not a big thing in America. At all. In business, in life, for disasters, for anything. I'm shocked and upset to see Americans floating, dead, in an American city, but the cause of it is still there, and while people want to blame Bush, or Nagin, it won't go away. It's systemic and it's not going away unless something changes. -- ant |

I'm kind of tired of hearing about him reading the goat book to the children after the plane flew into the tower. What did YOU do when you heard about it? I turned on the TV and then called my daughter-in-law because I figured she probably didn't know about it and, being a newcomer to this country, might be worried when she eventually did hear about it. I spent the night trying to phone a friend in NY (I had no landline then, so was using my mobile). Then I had a shower at about 1am (it happened half way through the West Wing, which starts at 10.30pm), and planned to head back down to Canberra, and try to phone from a land line, and get on teh net, and try to make sense of what seemed like the end of the world. Or World War Three, or something. I saw the 2nd one hit "live", which is when it became apparent it wasn't someone driving a Cessna into a building, and it was one of the worst nights of my life. -- ant |

The government will be able to track us, we won't need to use real money, everything we buy will be cataloged, and when we purchase a lift ticket it will be encoded to the chip so when we pass by the lift it will know we paid for the day, week or season. The day will come just watch and we will be told it will keep us free and maintain our freedom from the terrorist. They already have all this information. They're called "credit cards". I believe the proper term is "freedom cards". You are making all your purchases on your freedom card, aren't you? Otherwise, you must certainly hate America, freedom, motherhood, and democracy. And those pies. I reckon if Americans' national pie was a meat pie, like ours, many problems would not exist because no one is going to die for a meat pie. although after 6 months in the US, many of us reckon we just about would. **** vegemite, we need PIES. And tomato sauce (dead 'orse). Any idiot can make an apple pie, but meat pies are a dark craft known only to bakers. -- ant |

He is surrounded by people and communication equipment 24/7 and can do whatever he needs to do no matter where he happens to be. Yes, but one of the most critical components of being a leader is being perceived and acting like a leader. Most people would not consider that, their image of a leader. A true leader would have been.. err leading. And that means war room, advisors, at work. Yeah, but when the first plane hit it was just a really bad accident. You don't head for the bunker because of an accident a thousand miles away. If he'd done that, people would probably be dumping on him for needless panic and cowardice, especially if it turned out that it WAS just an accident. Ah, Bev. The difficulty with your explanation was that he sat there AFTER being told of the second plane. He started the session after the "accidental first plane." Remember when his aid wispered in his ear that the second plane had struck? That was when he went into his "I'm dumber than Dumb" routine for 7+ minutes ON CAMERA! I forgot my ObSki, sorry. ObSki: You don't need smarts to ski; so why don't we teach George the Doofus to ski, turn him into an enthusiast, and take turns keeping him on the slopes and away from any decisions? We'd all be allot safer. A fate worse than death for those who become his keepers. However, if he becomes an "enthusiast", you won't need keepers. Just an occasional companion to say "wow" and things like that. Oh, and on the subject of "teaching" him. Remember that he IS a Texan. VtSkier |

Read a lot of descriptions, of course, but that doesn't really count. Watch just excerpts of Farenheit 9/11. It's in there. It's painful to watch and something you won't soon forget. I watched part of that worthless chunk of screed, which was entirely sufficient. Moore has neither shame nor credibility and no matter what he has to say he's full of ****. Understand, I wasn't exactly a big Gore fan either. It's just that when I watched Bush speak, he spoke like a man who had no clue. Gore seemed to speak more fluently on what Bush's agenda was than Bush could. From that moment forward I started watching the guy. Was he really a man of the people (and thus someone I could be interested in) or just a guy making it up as he went along? I came to feel it was that latter with every step he took. Then 9/11 happened and it became more clear that the guy was a puppet who was simply the front man and not a good one. It's been going downhill ever since. They've now had to resort to putting him out mainly in staged events with participants who would never think of seeing him in bad light. That's some feat! grin It's to our eternal shame that we can't field better candidates for high office. Or even low office. -- Cheers, Bev ================================================== ======== There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness.' |
