IMO, JH just isn't what it used to be... too many assholes live and
ski there now.

I blame it on the new management. Every time some new owners come in and
dump some money into a mountain, the place deteriorates.

Actually, Paul McCollister had a great pad and pencil scam. He borrowed
money and offered people a percentage of JHMR for collateral. He always
defaulted, and the Dutchman nailed him on it. The Dutchman sued, won, and
McCollister lost controlling interest in JHMR. The Dutchman could care
less about a few million that McCollister owed him. He was a billionare
oil trader. The Kemmerer family bought JHMR at that point, McCollister's
son drives a START (Southern Teton Area Rapid Transit) bus nowadays, and
the Kemmerers have resisted efforts by Vail Resorts to buy in to the
Ski Corp. Vail Resorts is making remarkable inroads in aquireing the
*real estate* in Teton Village. Snake River Lodge and Spa is a Vail
Resort property for instance.

Just a point of information there. I'm sure the Utah boys will counterdict
me.

However, it seems to me that there is more residential development in
BCC than in LCC.

Yup.... that's cuz you can still get a 1/2 acre lot for under a
million. I would prefer a residence to commercial. Changes the
atmosphere. On the flip side is that they get more spread out... I
just wish people would be reasonable about scale and actually live in
them. The good news is Silver Fork is getting close to built out,
There's only something like 268 water shares.. and even less
water. The village has used all their water, so no more there.

Sure, LCC has more commercial concrete, tram towers, landing pads,
etc., but it seems like there is an awful lot of new houses up in
BCC/Silver Fork lately.

Yup.. sad..

Regardless, I might go for a Solitude season pass next season, instead
of Alta. How about that....another Asshole skiing at Solitude!

I wouldn't say that.. But I really am not sure how I feel about you
posting your pictures of my stash.

Actually, I need some photographic variety.

Tell Couloir that. Although I must say the last issue had no BCC
photos that I saw as I leafed through it

One of my biggest complaints with Jackson is that the tram line is
longer than the ski season.

It all went down hill when they put the maze in. Last year, when they
changed the maze from a double alternating line to a single line fights
broke out. I admonished a guy for trying to snake me, then yelled at
Kent Spence for cutting. Spence said, "I've been getting in the tram line
from this side of the dock since 1967!" The snake chilled considerably
when he found out I went to high school with Spence.

So yeah, the 4 box wait is a pain. And the tourists who don't even have
skis or boards that are taking up space sight seeing suck. But once
you get off the tram at the top, there is 18 square miles of southern
Teton terrain to ski too. Depending on how much you want to hike, or
skin...

Ja. Get there 90 minutes early on a big powder day...and you'll still
be 1 tram back. Or try the other lifts. Or know someone on the patrol.

Best to hit the dock before 07:00 if you want 1st public box. Catching the
Gondie and hiking the headwall puts you in Casper Bowl, which is avalanche
controled, or off into Granite, which is not. If you ski Granite, your
chances of catching another tram depend on how fast and hard you can right
side step. (My right thigh is 2" bigger than my left.) If you take the
tram and head out *SOUTH*, you might end up with the perfect turns of your
life in untracked powder, then traverse back in to Union Pass and catch
another box to the top in an hour turn around.

And the ski patrol closes the headwall when they can't see through the
clouds, which is all the time on a powder day...well, almost all the time.
Powder nights and bluebird days are rare.

Picabo in spandex after she beefed up to 145... Just a thought... little
creative visualization actually. Never met her.

Godamnit.

I live in my Winnebago behind the Teton Rock Gym. The Ski Corp gives me
a season bus pass with my season lift pass. The bus stops a block from the
Rock Gym. We can't get any improvement on 390 voted past the Jackson Hole
Conservation Alliance, who bought in late with east coast money. Since
390 remains 2 lane, the Ski Corp pulled the parking prank to cut down on
traffic on 390. Most of their employees have to take the shuttle bus, or
pay through the nose for parking.

But you can stay at Motel 6 for $30/day, and take the START bus to the Ville
for $3 trip, one way...and some of those new lifties are reaking at 06:30
in the back of the bus And they party at the Cabin in town...

But I like the Utah guys. This has been fun, eh?
