wrote in message oups.com... Climate changes melting tourism in Swiss Alps at http://www.washtimes.com/world/20060...1635-2501r.htm One of the feared consequences of the current warming trend is the Greenland icecap melting, changing the mass balance of the Atlantic surface water, thus upsetting the flow of the Gulf Stream. If that happens, they will be skiing down to Sicily. |

Imagine what that'll do. The theory is that the reversing of polarity was the reason that Mars eventually lost its atmosphere. Oh well............. Forget that crap, where can I get a reversable compass? -- Cheers, Bev --------------------------------------------------- Don't you just KNOW that there is more than one Sierra Club member who is absolutely sure that the dinosaurs died out because of something humans did? |

Actually this reversal of polarity has happened many time in the past. Magnetic ore rocks have recorded this incident and apparently it has happened when not very much else happened climatologically and environmentally. Since this has happened many times, it is suggested that if it happened or is to happen with apparently catastrophic results, scientists will probably see the "results" as coincidental. |

Forget that crap, where can I get a reversable compass? Actually it won't matter, as long as you know your compass will point south instead of north. It'll be like learning the metric system by throwing away your imperial measuring devices and buying metric devices. |

Does it rotate or flip? -- Cheers, Bev ================================================== ======== There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness.' |

Does it rotate or flip? Nature never flips. Besides, it's already a crap shoot. It's called magnetic declination. -klaus |
