current conditions: Tahoe vs. Eastern Sierras
I am hoping to do some light backcountry touring in either Tahoe (e.g.
Roundtop) or the Eastern Sierras (e.g. in the Mammoth area, or Rock Creek) in a week. My impression is that the Eastern Sierras really hasn't gotten that much snow since the big dump in Oct (and the one foot last weekend). Would I have better luck with the Tahoe area?? Thanks, Alfred |

Big storm due this week and they got over a foot last weekend. Anywhere above 7K should be fine. _ Booker C. They have good snowpack that came early and stayed, I talked to a friend of mine from Mammoth this morning. I don't know how low but I don't think you'd have to go far and it sounds like the coverage is unusually good for this time of year. I think you'd have good luck either place. DCraig.
