Universal Klister Conditions
Heard a rumour that the some fast skiers at the Noquemanon used
Universal Klister. How did Universal work, anyone ? Secondly, when does one grab the Universal Klister versus all the many others ? How do you make that decision to even try it ? It never enters my mind to even try it. I've got about 2 chances to swipe on whatever flavor of klister before I can make my skis start to drag, maybe a 3rd short layer. When should I be thinking, "If THIS klister doesnt hook up, or doesnt glide, this looks like Universal Klister conditions, and I'll try that." |

I think the theory is that universal is formulated to work reasonably
well under a wider range of conditions, whereas something more specific would be optimal if conditions were stable and predictable. I heard Craftsbury was a waxing disaster for many. |

KR 50 (swix) here Dell. Its like the fluorinated version of universal
with a slightly tighter temp range.... from -4 C to +6 C or something like that. Perfect for Noque conditions. the fluoros help repel dirt (kinda of a necessity that last 10km !!) and help keep it from icing too. It was great --- VERY fast skis on downhills and good kick to boot. ZERO icing, and when i took it off last night while cleaning my skis up it looked almost exactly as it did when i put it on. Base green klister ironed in to provide a great base... worked well. |

ZERO icing, At the Harry Eldridge races in Lake Placid this weekend, the wax choice for Sunday's 10K classic event was VR 50 over Swix silver universal klister. My experience was the same as 32 Degree's - dirty snow, great kick, no icing and fast skis on the downhills. I would also add how abrasion resistant this combo was and how it stayed put on the ski - no migration into the glide zone. I just wish I had gone a bit shorter with the klister.... - Bob |
