Can you put SR 125 tires onto Aero R-skis that came with 150 tires?
Hi All-
I haven't been reading this newsgroup as closely as I usually do this summer (it's too darn hot to think of skiing!) but, as the days shorten, my attention span lengthens (for this topic, anyway). So, I apologize in advance if this topic has already been beaten to death, but I have a question: I have a pair of Jenex Aero Rollerskis that came with the bigger (150?) tires. Comparing them to a friend's SR125 skis, it appears that the frames are exactly the same, and that the holes in the wheel forks are set up to accomodate both wheel sizes. So-- my question: can I order 4 smaller wheels (making sure to get the O-rings!) and be on my merry way? Better yet, is there any possibility that Jenex would trade them out? Or that someone on this list would be interested in buying the bigger wheels from me? -- they have very light wear--less than 40-50K mileage. thanks-- now I'm heading out to do some double poling (on my Pro-ski classic skis) Chris Cline SLC __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? If your frame has two sets of holes, as do the 125 frames, then you are all
set to use the smaller 125sr wheel. The speed reducers is different for that wheel I believe. (I've tried to modify a 150 speed reducer to a 125 but really couldn't due to pivot point difference. Some of these specs may have changed. Save your 150 wheels. cause they may come in handy when you are on rough stuff. BTW, there is practically no way to retrofit 125 sr wheels on the 150 frames that are not drilled for 125. The precision necessary to get the holes right is too great for anything but a milling machine. A drill press won't do I'm told. Gary's correct that a milling machine is necessary if holes have to be
drilled. If that's what you need, call Jenex and Len will send you a couple of templates and any necessary hardware. I looked around in the distant TC suburbs to find someone who would mill it without charging me a lot. It came out well and cost $30. I think he was very slightly off on one hole, but not enough to cause any problems.
