Default Informal survey: What skis are you using?

Peltonen had some financial trouble a couple years ago and I don't know
if they're being sold much in the US or not, but Finn Sisu
would be the people to contact about that.

I was down at Finn Sisu the other week and was informed that they no
longer will be stocking Peltonen. Apparently the consortium that bought
them has done nothing to promote the marque (racing, sponsorship,
advertising, etc). Looks like its just Atomic, Fischer, and Rossi there
for the time being.

My 2 cents....
Skate: Peltonen Cosmic
Classic: Atomic RC9
Rock (classic): Jarvinen

Skate: Rossi '91
Skate training: Fischer RCS candy-stripe '85 (their first skater I
think)

Classic: Rossi '93
Classic training: Fischer Touring Light '91 -- wide allrounders for
our local skied-in singletrack

(Boy, those old Rossi's are LIGHT! 1100 grams, I recall. Lightest
ever? But I would go VERY easy on 'em. And those worn, old Fischers
still sometimes spark up and leave the pals in the dust depending on
wax luck.)

Same for my old Fischer Karbon, much lighter than my new RCS

Clear ptex and metal edges? Cool .. I've still got two pair of those!

Were those the ones that the F.I.S. or some governing body declared illegal
for competition, owing to some obscure rule that says the base and edges
can't be constructed from different materials?
