Default Roller ski Fiddlers Elbow road in NJ

A few years back, someone mentioned roller skiing up Fiddlers Elbow in
north Jersey. Since it looks like a couple of hours' drive for me from
Central Jersey (which by the way is frustratingly flat), I wanted to
see if I can get some pointers before I head out for sorely needed
uphill training.

How is traffic up there?
Any shoulders?
Getting down - better off w/o skis - on foot on in a car?

Can anyone recommend other places with a decent uphill?

Thanks!

I rollerskied it regularly ~10 years ago and it was pretty quiet. Get down on foot or shuttle a bike or two up the hill. Google Ken Roberts and write to him for details, he may have updates on the current status of the road.

A good climb in NJ is the road to the top of Sunrise Mountain off Rt 206 in Northern NJ. it's one-way, so be careful on your way down. You can take the AT down, or rollerski down (which I would frequently do).

Another nice hilly area - Far Hills, NJ.

I used to live in Piscataway, now in NoVa. If you happen to be in NoVA drop me a note, there are nice climbs here, too.

Thanks!

I've seen those maps but I guess need to take a second look.
