Hunter Mountain in mid December
With Hunter Mtn it is easy to predict .... frozen granular on hardpack all
year round 'till spring. Then you can through some rocks in the mix. Enjoy! Alek "Chuck" wrote in message ... I'm going to be in NYC in mid December so I might shoot over to Hunter for a few hours. What sort of conditions should I expect? Do they usually have any intermediate stuff open that early in the season? |

I think some people are just biased against east coast skiing. Last year the snow conditions in the east were as good as you'd get anywhere. |

You talk about last year and "some" fantastic conditions the past few years, there's more history than just last year and a few times per year. I'm not complaining about the icy conditions we have here on the East coast. As long as the ice isn't rock hard, I like it provide my edges are sharp. JQ Dancing on the edge |

Again, where have you been skiing? I think I've had maybe 10 bad days
(i.e. icy) out of about 150+ days over the past 6 years. Where do you see this ice? Maybe you should choose different ski areas. My guess is that you're spending too much time at Hunter, Windham, Mt. Creek, Killington and in the Poconos. JQ wrote: "Chuck" wrote in message ... Brian Sniatkowski wrote in : JQ wrote: "Alek Popov" wrote in message ... I have never skied there as of yet, heard plenty of good things about the place though. My last two trips to Mt Snow last year had areas that were ok, slushy and icy. Stratton was great the times that skied there last year but the year before found areas that were icy. Keep in mind that I don't mind hard pack snow... JQ Dancing on the edge |

Yes! I've had some good days too ... only not at Hunter. I ski mostly Mt.
Snow and Okemo plus couple of days at Stratton and Killington plus a long weekend in Breck, CO plus 5-6 days in Europe. East coast ranks the lowest on my scale, Europe ranks the highest. One time I actually went sliding at Wintergreen, WV (what a joke). I used to ski a lot more while I was racing (FIS), but now I have bills to pay and I don't ski as much as I would like to.
