Default Ultimate Season Pass?

Anyone else catch this story today?
http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,...667849,00.html

Basically, for $2999 plus tax (another $299), you can fly to Denver or
Reno as much as you like and ski at Keystone/ Breckenridge/ A-Basin/
Vail/ Beaver Creek/ Heavenly as much as you want...

Even at $72 a day, that means you'd have to ski 42 days to break even.
Not to mention that you could just take an early trip to Summit County
and buy a Colorado Pass for $329 which gives you unlimited days at KAB
plus 10 between Vail/Beav. I've skied Heavenly once a long time ago,
but I don't remember it being *so* spectacular as to justify an
additional $2600 clams to go there a few times.

But that price includes airfare too doesn't it?

Yes, that price includes the airfare. It does not include lodging, and
I believe Saturday stays are required. I'd be curious to see how many
they actually sell...

The three-fer for $1100 could be a good deal - working out to about $350
per trip for airfare and lift tickets. Assuming that Frontier Airlines
services your local airport (which it doesn't in my case) and all the
fine print checks out.

That's not much of a deal ...

Yes, that's the problem. In any ski trip, the costs are usually:

lodging airfare lift tickets

Lodging costs are brutal, especially in a place like Vail.

It also blacks out the 5 weeks most of us out of staters would be able to
go.

I hate Hevenly. But in that case you can stay in State Line casinos for less
than airfare, if they allow you to fly to So. Lake Tahoe. Reno, ney....
