Hello, I need to get from near Meribel to Serre Chevalier in March, and I'm very interested to hear whether your group member skied across Val Thorens and down to Orelle, and if so, how it went. Thanks, Sunil |

Sorry - I cannot be any help. My friend went down ill and flew home instead
of skiing over to join us. Took the £300 he owed me with him, so I'd better call and see how he is feeling, now that I'm home Rob "sunil" wrote in message ... Rob White Wrote: Can anybody recommend a self-catering chalet in Serre Chevalier? 7 of us for the week commencing 22/1/05. One of our group has to get there from Meribel and his plan is to ski over the Val Thorens (with his clothing etc in a big rucksack) and take the bubble down to Orelle. I'd rather him than me but he's young(ish), fit and a good skier. It seems that he can get a bus or train to Oulx and from there get to S/Chev on a bus or taxi via Cesana and the Montgenevre pass. Any better ideas? We stayed in the Pierre & Vacance apartments - quite OK and we plan to
return next year. You can check their website for details, but from their brochure they seemed pricey. We were on a package (flight, coach and room for £300 each via Iglu.com)which I thought was quite a good deal. There are other cheaper apartments available elsewhere in resort, including right opposite the Aravet bubble. If you want some info say so and I'll look out what I picked up last week. Serre Che is a good resort - it is the 4th biggest in France and says it has 300 days un each year. Snow right now is very poor - it only had a few inches last week when other areas had so much and by Friday it was getting very thin, icy and stony. Hopefully you'll be OK by March, but anybody there right now will not be having a very good time. If you want a decent and inexpensive restaurant I'd recommend the Pastalli (I think that's how it's spelt) in Le Bez, where there also seem to be a few others. Have a good time Rob "sunil" wrote in message ... Rob White Wrote: Can anybody recommend a self-catering chalet in Serre Chevalier? 7 of us for the week commencing 22/1/05.
